Identifying and clarifying the personal makes and life from the Etsy shop makes

This is an announcement post just to explain the process going forward for my blogs.

This one - Maker me, I am going to be using for showcasing all the makes for the Etsy Shop.  All my personal makes and life tales will be over On Mama said Blog.

I do not want to confuse people and have them looking for items in the shop I have made for my self.

Thank you for understanding.

Me Made skirt

I have a very quick simple make done.

I had some left over black corduroy fabric from another project I had made, and I have had the Mccalls M7022 skirt pattern in my pattern stash for about a year, so I decided to make the simplest skirt. Version e.

You can purchase the pattern in most UK fabric stores and online. Here is a link to Minerva crafts where you can purchase the pattern and browse the many fabrics they have in stock.

Now I am not an experienced sewists more a enthusiastic beginner, with a few more curves than necessary for my short height.

I made the 20 size and found the pattern fairly straight forward but for beginners I think the zipper placement and instructions could have been explained easier for total newbies.

I made it straight out the packet with no alterations as this was going to be a wearable muslin.

I am overall happy with the outcome, waist is comfortable, maybe a little loose by about 1", tends to sit on my stomach but not tight at all - I am on medication that leaves me a little bloated at the moment.

No major problems and only 4 pattern pieces to cut out. (9 fabric cuts, 3 interfacing cuts) I reckon its doable in 2-3hours max.

Sewing, knitting and crochet carries on - all but slowly.

Well hello everyone, I am still not allowed to return to work, I get tired very easily since the P.E incident on the 29th.

I am however slowly being able to sit at the sewing machine for half hour stints. I can now knit a couple or rows or crochet for a little bit also. Concentration is exhausting.  LOL!

When I am fully fit I do really want to go more in depth on what I am working on and return to podcasting, but this will keep us all in the loop for now.

So what am I working on - well as I cannot dye yarn either at the moment, I thought I would make a few one ball style project bags for my etsy shop.  4 days in and I might finish them soon.

I cannot find the picture I posted on Instagram so I am posting the
Link.

I have also sewed a new dress, this took me 3 weeks (normally would take 1 day over the weekend).

I made version A - the short cap sleeve version in A lovely plain purple ponte roma fabric with contrast white colour. The very first item I have made on brand new serger.   I will post a picture of the final version soon, I promise but believe me you do not want to see me at the moment, no colour at all.  I am a large apple shape so made the upper sizes and was happy with the fit straight out the packet. Mind you I think the stretch of the ponte helps.

Likes: the shape, length, the fabric choice.
Dislikes : the collar was fiddly to do, for me and would like a peter pan collar option too.

I have had a bit of a pattern binge this week, here are a few others I purchased

I have fabric for all but the COAT!!!!  I also discovered that the wonderful Mimi G has done tutorials on you tube for all her patterns,  so this has taken some of the fear out of sewing Jeans and a coat.

Just a quick mention on the knitting crochet front,  I am doing the Campside Cardi by Alicia Plummer, the pattern is available to buy on ravelry for £4.85. Using an acrylic yarn for cost effectiveness and so I can just relax and abuse it (no precious washing). Sleeves and border to do.

Crochet: the eastern jewels blanket kitEastern Jewels has been re-invented by Lucia Dunn from the original Jane Crowfoot's Persian Tiles Blanket. 5 Octagons done.

Will be back soon.

Oh Dear - New Year!!

Well what a way to start a New Year, thanks 2018!

I am off work poorly as I was taken ill on the 27th December finally giving in and going to MIU at the Cumberland centre on the 29th to be told to go straight to a&e. - I have several blood clots in both lungs. Test are being done and am off work at the moment.

So with plenty of time to watch podcast and read blogs etc.

I stumbled across The yarn hoarders podcast and she mentioned the adjustable apron pattern on Purl Soho's website. It is a free instruction/ tutorial, super easy and Ideal for Christmas gifts. you can find them HERE.

Now I would normally be able to buy the fabric, cut it out and get in done in one day when I am fit and healthy, well I had to pace myself as getting into the car (hubby drove|) literally did me in, I stubbornly went to the shop and purchased fabric to do the apron x2 (mixy matchy style for a couple). Came home and promptly went to bed for the rest of the day.

Day2: I managed to cut out the fabric, went to bed after for the rest of the day. I kid you not. I was exhausted.

Day 3: I sewed em,

Cheeky little logo button sewn on to the pocket corner, to make it look profesh.

This really is the simplest make if you can cut and sew straight lines you can make these;  But not when you are ill. I am exhausted again, Don't know how I will ever get back to work at this rate. Trying to do too much too soon is the words I know my doctor will be saying to me next week.
